Pastors Notes

Shine by Serving

“None of them could stand against the wisdom and the Spirit with which Stephen spoke.

At this point everyone in the high council stared at Stephen, because his face became as bright as an angel’s.”

‭‭Acts of the Apostles‬ ‭6:10, 15‬ ‭NLT

This is how protesting should look, that we shine the light and wisdom of the Spirit of God on us. It is there in the Word as an example and testimony for us, to declare to us we get to walk in the same. Sometimes I feel that I didn’t not give a good reason for the faith in me nor did I shine very bright. But this inspires me and encourages me to spend more time with him and commune with Holy Spirit to rise to the occasions. We have a great privilege to represent Papa well, by just believing and surrendering to his work in our lives. It’s a Spirit and Word thing. Give ourselves to it.

You are Called

“The council members were astonished as they witnessed the bold courage of Peter and John, especially when they discovered that they were just ordinary men who had never had religious training. Then they began to understand the effect Jesus had on them simply by spending time with him.”

‭‭Acts‬ ‭4:13‬ ‭TPT‬‬

The word and the power of the gospel is not set apart for the elite only as some have thought. There are some great men and women of God who stepped out in faith in the anointing of God. There some great people who have been through training. There are offices that Jesus has given to the Body Christ in order to equip people in their God-given anointing as believers and we need ordinary and educated sons of God to bring influence of the Gospel to every area in life. Educated and trained doesn’t necessarily mean walking in the fullness of the Spirit. The heart of the matter is that it is promised to all who believe, to them, their children and their children’s children and to all a far off. Let’s pursue to be ordinary authentic believers full of courage and the Spirit to bring impact to the world in Jesus name. You are called.

Faith is action

“Peter held out his right hand to the crippled man. As he pulled the man to his feet, suddenly power surged into his crippled feet and ankles. The man jumped up, stood there for a moment stunned, and then began to walk around! As he went into the temple courts with Peter and John, he leapt for joy and shouted praises to God.”

‭‭Acts‬ ‭3:7-8‬ ‭TPT‬‬

Faith is action, love in action founded on truth. Peter prayed, declared the truth of the work and authority of Jesus over sickness. Then he reached out and pulled him up and as he got to his feet they were strengthened. It was in action in trust to the truth that healing came. It can be difficult to see results when we don't see any change or feel any change but we must believe in Jesus regardless and act on the word of truth. More than checking to see if anything happen let's simply act in faith that it has happened. It may take a few steps, but don't lose hope and continue to move in faith in action. He died so we can live and rose again to make sure you get everything he paid for. He is the testimony and his testimony is true, he loves you and hates what devil does.

High days

“The Jews therefore, because it was the preparation, that the bodies should not remain upon the cross on the sabbath day, (for that sabbath day was an high day,) besought Pilate that their legs might be broken, and that they might be taken away.”

‭‭John‬ ‭19:31‬ ‭KJV‬‬

Have you ever questioned how if Jesus was crucified on Friday evening before 6pm that he was in buried 3 days and 3 night as Jonah was in the belly of the whale. John makes a clear distinction here of the day, that the sabbath was on a high day. Which meant it was not a regular sabbath of a normal week, it was a high day. It was established that the feast started on the 14 day of first month and that 14 day became a holy convocation, meaning a sabbath where no work was done but worship and sacrifice unto the lord regardless of what day of the week it was. So you could have 2 sabbaths during that week of the feast of Passover. Sometimes we confuse people of truth by bending it to fit our remembrance and celebration during our work week. None the less we don't focus on being a religious stickler, but remembering and celebrating is of the outmost importance. He was crucified on our behalf and rose again, in fact Romans tells us when we believe what he did for us, we realize we were brought into union with him in death and resurrection. Hallelujah!

Who are you looking for

“Jesus fully realized all that was going to happen to him, so he stepped forward to meet them. “Who are you looking for?” he asked. “Jesus the Nazarene,” they replied. “ I AM he,” Jesus said. (Judas, who betrayed him, was standing with them.) As Jesus said “ I AM he,” they all drew back and fell to the ground!”

‭‭John‬ ‭18:4-6‬ ‭NLT

As you come to Jesus, good question to ask yourself. Who or what are you looking for? What answer will you accept? Are you sincere in your question or is it to prove why you are right. The church sometimes desire an outpouring where everyone is laying on the floor, but to many get up without allowing the power or the encounter to mould them to be his surrendered followers. They still crucified him. Let’s be sincere followers asking sincere questions and having authentic encounters that become the norm that strengthens our Christian walk because he is the truth and loves us, laying down his life for us. Let’s lay our lives down for the kingdom whether we fall down or not. He is truth, the way and the life.

Blank cheque

“But if you live in life-union with me and if my words live powerfully within you—then you can ask whatever you desire and it will be done.”

‭‭John‬ ‭15:7‬ ‭TPT‬‬

Have you ever been given a blank cheque that is signed and has your name on it and they tell you to put whatever number you want on it? You would have all kinds of thoughts of how big you could write the amount and what you would do with it. Or maybe just what I need is what I will put there or possibly I couldn’t do that, I wouldn’t feel write. But the Lord has given us a signed blank cheque in our name. And he has given us a new heart and put his spirit in us, we should trust ourselves as much as he does to do the right thing. There is a stipulation and that is to live in union with him and that his words are living in union within us. Don’t over think that from merely a natural stand point but also in the spirit. We should love to be with him and talk to him and love his word and know that we are loved and nothing is too extravagant with our Lord and even too little is never lack for it feeds 5000. Stewardship and great vision need to come together. Be a lover and you will do big things.

“So if I’m your teacher and lord and have just washed your dirty feet, then you should follow the example that I’ve set for you and wash one another’s dirty feet. Now do for each other what I have just done for you.”

‭‭John‬ ‭13:14-15‬ ‭TPT‬‬

Jesus is not afraid of your walk, in fact he is committed to your walk. He has made you clean by his sacrifice and his word continues to wash you everyday. But the water and soap coming out of the tap of his life does you no good until you receive it and apply it. And it is best remembered and retained when you give it away. As Jesus cleansed and forgave us we must do for others. He said offences will come, but now that your clean you can live un-offendable. But you say people have done mean careless things, even godly leaders have miss represented and abused the word and their office. Don’t let their wrong become yours, wash it off and forgive them and keep your eyes on your new life and the task of heaven moving forward through your life. when you quit because of them and become isolated, then you forgot his washing on your own life and calling to give it away. You can only keep what you give away. He loves you and the world around you.

Good Shepherd knows

“But the worker who serves only for wages is not a real shepherd. Because he has no heart for the sheep he will run away and abandon them when he sees the wolf coming. And then the wolf mauls the sheep, drags them off, and scatters them.”

‭‭John‬ ‭10:12-13‬ ‭TPT‬‬

We are stewards of what the Lord has entrusted us with and he is a good shepherd that knows each one of us as to our calling and capacity, so not to give us more than we can handle. Problem is we tend to squirm and argue with God that he requires more than I think I’m capable of. Odd to think that from my limited capacity to understand and that I am the clay that I know more than him. It’s hilarious actually, Moses and Gideon thought the same but it didn’t change gods mind. Maybe we think that way because we consider ourselves as hired and we think we can resign or quit and take a different job. We are not hired, we are sons with family responsibility and created for his image not mine and it’s glorious to be brought into the kingdom corporation and since he did that and he is all wise, than I must trust that he entrusted me because of his wisdom. We are the steward of our own heart and the gifts he has given us, and if he gave us those things and the tasks then I need to steward my heart to trust him that with him I’m able to do it well. He is the Good Shepherd.

See people as the Father does

““Rabbi,” his disciples asked him, “why was this man born blind? Was it because of his own sins or his parents’ sins?” “It was not because of his sins or his parents’ sins,” Jesus answered. “This happened so the power of God could be seen in him.”

‭‭John‬ ‭9:2-3‬ ‭NLT‬‬

How do we react when things go wrong and we are looking for answers to figure out the cause. It's good to evaluate our life and situations to see if we are operating in the faith. But don't navel gaze to deep and be all negative. If all our thinking up till now has got us where we don't like, let's get a new thought. Maybe it's not what's wrong but what is missing. Let's not look for who or what to blame but know there are solutions and God is on our side to help bring us up and out. Let us bring the love of God and his promise to people that will change their day and their future and cause them to Know the goodness of God that leads men to repentance and life in Him. He loves us.

Friend of God

“Anyone who believes in me may come and drink! For the Scriptures declare, ‘Rivers of living water will flow from his heart.’” (When he said “living water,” he was speaking of the Spirit, who would be given to everyone believing in him. But the Spirit had not yet been given, because Jesus had not yet entered into his glory.)”

‭‭John‬ ‭7:38-39‬ ‭NLT‬‬

They believed in God and were waiting for the Messiah, and yet many failed to push through their fears. Jesus has come and Holy Spirit is here and we still tend to be held back by fear. We have an invitation and Holy Spirit leads us in truth and we often resist the invitation to be filled and enjoy the intimacy of being with Him. Thankfully the Father continues to pursue us and extend the invitation daily, he so faithfully woes us and reminds us to come and draw from him. We can be Abraham and leave all to be with the Lord and be called his friend in such intimacy as he shared with Abraham what he was going to do, and so he desires to share with us. Let’s get thirsty and answer the invitation and find more ways and time to be with him. Think of being smothered in the majestic love of the Father. What glory, what life giving.

New Man

“Now, if anyone is enfolded into Christ, he has become an entirely new person. All that is related to the old order has vanished. Behold, everything is fresh and new. And God has made all things new, and reconciled us to himself, and given us the ministry of reconciling others to God.”

‭‭2 Corinthians‬ ‭5:17-18‬ ‭TPT‬‬

When we turned to Christ, to what he accomplished for us at the cross and resurrection. We became born again, born of the Spirit. We became new, alive unto God and received a whole new life, new nature, new perspective. Everything about our old life, fleshy in thinking and action and desires died and buried with Christ. Old things passed away and ALL things became new. It’s a matter of truth and the renewing of the mind. It’s not turning over a new leaf or trying to make the old better, the old died and you are new in Christ. Life in its fullness comes with the new, righteousness comes with the new, value and destiny comes with the new. You don’t have to beg or work for it, just live it like it exists for you because it does. He loves you and if he did not spare his own Son, how much more will he freely give us ALL things. Walk in your new, state of the art man that has no lack, but fully backed by heaven. Christ in you the hope(joyful expectation of good)!

Empowered to serve

“For the Father loves the Son and shows him everything he is doing. In fact, the Father will show him how to do even greater works than healing this man. Then you will truly be astonished.”

‭‭John‬ ‭5:20‬ ‭NLT‬‬

As we read through chapter 5 today, there are so many nuggets. But I pick one today to encourage us in our destiny. As the Father loves the Son, so he loves us and desires to reveal himself and his ways to us. Through the new birth we have been made to be loved and brought in as co labours with God. That’s amazing, what an honor and privilege to be brought into his presence to hear and be empowered to serve. To often we try to do things to hear the Father, when he loves us and loves to share with us before we do anything. Besides we need to trust we hear than do what we hear and believe we can do. There are things I believe that he loves to show us how to do for this time and region. But to many times we are afraid to do and don’t think we can because we might not do a good job or it’s awkward. Let’s get over ourselves and be loved and be insiders for the city he has called and designed us to be.

Light prevails always

“The Word gave life to everything that was created, and his life brought light to everyone. The light shines in the darkness, and the darkness can never extinguish it.”

‭‭John‬ ‭1:4-5‬ ‭NLT‬‬

Have you found yourself feel like your going through a dark place or dark season and you may be asking, where is God in this. Lots of things can flood your mind, about hope, about your faith, about the Father. It’s in these moments that he Word must get deep in your heart and breathe the aroma of heaven in you, because the enemy wants to discourage you and bring you down and get you to question God and your faith walk. But he is a liar, there is no truth in him. Jesus has come, is her and is the life and light of the earth and men. His light cannot be distinguished, it may only be a small ember in you but it is non the less. The only place that darkness prevails is where there is no light, but the light has come, the Word was made flesh to give you life and light and show you as a man how to shine in every situation. When darkness tries to show up, he is actually reminding you of the light and life you have. So rejoice!

Persistent = hopeful expectation

“The judge ignored her for a while, but finally he said to himself, ‘I don’t fear God or care about people, but this woman is driving me crazy. I’m going to see that she gets justice, because she is wearing me out with her constant requests!’””

‭‭Luke‬ ‭18:4-5‬ ‭NLT‬‬

Jesus teaches on prayer, how is your prayer life. He said we ought to always without losing hope. It’s essential to pray, a privilege to prayer and powerful. It’s faith that pleases God, therefore prayer is a faith thing where you trust and partner with Father to bring transformation in your world. Be persistent and not beg, be humble and not entitled by your own efforts. Take the limits off and trust the power of God in every situation. Things happen because you pray.

Kingdom in you

“Jesus was once asked by the Jewish religious leaders, “When will God’s kingdom realm come?” Jesus responded, “God’s kingdom realm does not come simply by obeying principles or by waiting for signs. The kingdom is not discovered in one place or another, for God’s kingdom realm is already expanding within some of you.””

‭‭Luke‬ ‭17:20-21‬ ‭TPT‬‬

Good News is a breathe of fresh air. The Kingdom is here, it’s in you, already by the Spirit. He makes us alive unto God, how can you top that. We tend to look for it to show up by visible signs and they will, but because you believe it exists already, not because you see it. Jesus showed up on the planet and displayed the kingdom on earth and took our place on the cross, taking our judgment and rose again in the new man, setting the course for us to walk in. The grace of God makes the kingdom of heaven available to everyone regardless of pedigree, works, talent or management skills, but that grace is only appropriated by faith, by trusting in Jesus work and the Spirit on your behalf. And you and I step up into it and from relationship with Father we re-present the works of righteousness from sonship. Don’t reduce the supernatural to methods but believe and do. He is in you!

Greed robs

“Speaking to the people, Jesus continued, “Be alert and guard your heart from greed and always wishing for what you don’t have. For your life can never be measured by the amount of things you possess.””

‭‭Luke‬ ‭12:15‬ ‭TPT‬‬

We desire to be good stewards and successful, it’s in us to do so. Some have lost hope and quit pressing forward, and quit dreams. Sometimes things happen that take the wind out of your sail. And too many times we measure success by those around us, we all have our own gifting and journey in life. So stay focused and run well and keep your goals and vision alive. To shoot for nothing and get it is not pressing forward. Jesus gives us a caution in our pursuit to not let greed in and know that success is not measured by what you have. Don’t focus on what you don’t have, keep thankful of what you do have and be a good manager, do your best to increase it. The best guard against greed is be a giver and think of the interests of others, live by what you give and not what you get and the increase will just come anyway. What if we will be measured by what give? Then who has the most? The woman who gave 2 mites gave more than anyone else. If you want to be greedy, be greedy for more understanding of Him and the way of the Spirit. He loves us and has blessed us with all spiritual blessings in Christ. Let’s be good mangers of that.

Walk it

“Jesus replied, “But even more blessed are all who hear the word of God and put it into practice.””

‭‭Luke‬ ‭11:28‬ ‭NLT‬‬

We are blessed more than we understand and walk in. There is so much made available through the work of Jesus on our behalf and the love of the Father. Blessed with all spiritual blessings, redeemed from the curse. But many of these blessings have conditions attached. Number one is you have to believe they are true and available for you to access. Number two, you in trust take them for yourself and act on them, practice till you become who the promise. Believe and make adjustments.

Christ in you, you in him

“But don’t rejoice because evil spirits obey you; rejoice because your names are registered in heaven.””

‭‭Luke‬ ‭10:20‬ ‭NLT‬‬

I love it when we step out and carry out the work of the Kingdom of God. Seeing people set free and healed and saved brings great joy to my heart. The goodness and faithfulness of God to invite us to co labour with him is such a privilege. But Jesus gives a caution here, without throwing water on ministry, he reminds us of the gift of being born from above and that he put His Spirit in us and that’s why we can and should do the works. Thank him that he took up residence in us and placed us in him because Jesus went to the cross for us. Don’t take him or the work for granted, live grateful and honorable before him and we will see experience great things.

“Heal the sick, and tell them, ‘The Kingdom of God is near you now.’”

‭‭Luke‬ ‭10:9‬ ‭NLT‬‬

Because we have connection to Jesus and the Father through the new birth. We are also commissioned to continue the work he started, “as the Father sent him, so he sends us”. You may not be an evangelist, prophet, Apostle, pastor or teacher, but they have equipped you for the work of the ministry to fulfill the commission in love to the world you find yourself in. Whether at work, neighbourhood or church to heal the sick and tell them the kingdom of heaven is here. It will take some cultivating of yourself to step out in truth and faith to do it. Be you and honor his call and confidence in sending you.

Life Follows your Words

“Wherefore, holy brethren, partakers of the heavenly calling, consider the Apostle and High Priest of our profession, Christ Jesus;”

‭‭Hebrews‬ ‭3:1‬ ‭KJV‬‬

Think of it, we are partakers of the kingdom of heaven and it's cause. So therefore he tells us to be mindful of our appointment and assignment. Don't treat it lightly or think we can jump in and out at random. Our actions and words are more powerful than we realize. Jesus is not only our saviour and brother, he is also our Apostle who sends us out(commissioned) and our high priest, our mediator giving power to our words before the Father. So what are the declarations, the conversations that he is bringing before the Father that gives them power. Are they defeat, discouragement and disease or are they blessing, victory, and peace. Your life follows your words now that you are empowered in the heavenly realm. So speak life, hope and love.
